If we have learned anything from the tournament this year, it's that anybody can win it if they work hard enough and play well down the stretch.  Butler proved it to everyone, even though they lost the final.

So we are back to work this week, playing pick up ball with the legends Matt Frieje and Shan Foster joining in.  We also started individual workouts, which are a lot of conditioning and shooting.  We are ready to work relentlessly for a very succesful season next year.  We can learn something from that excitement!  More Pictures to come later today.

Lance Goulbourne is hampered by a stress fracture in his right foot.  Despite his wheels, he will not be denied a chance to compete for locker room dominance in Ping Pong.  We tried to keep him down by putting him in the chair but the guy just keeps fighting back.  Pictured on the left, Lance is beating up on Jordan Smart even though he slightly limited in his lateral movements.  The scooter is merely a bump in the road for LG.  It won't stop him from getting where he needs to be.

Tune in tomorrow on ESPN to watch Jermaine!

The 22nd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and Three Point Championships is making its first official appearance at the NCAA Men’s Final Four.  The event brings together NCAA basketball’s top three-point shooters and slam dunk artists competing in four separate competitions: men’s three-point shooting, women’s three-point shooting, men’s vs. women’s three-point champions, and the slam dunk competition.  The competitions will be Thursday, April 1, beginning at 7 p.m. in Bracket Town refreshed by Coca-Cola Zero, at the Indiana Convention Center.

Celebrity judges for the event include Gary Brackett and Eric Foster of the Indianapolis Colts, Danny Granger and Dahntay Jones of the Indiana Pacers and others to be named in the coming days. Brad Nessler, Steve Lavin, Jimmy Dykes and ERIN ANDREWS will be the announcing team for ESPN.

Beal recently told me that he might do a little dance for everyone if he gets the victory.  And trust me, it will be worth it to tune in @ 7pm. Thursday night.  I am going to throw it out there and say that he could compete with Dancing With the Stars' own Chad Ochocinco.  You be the judge... Go Dolla!

Today we completed our first "300" workout of the offseason... and it was BRUTAL!  I think everyone got a taste of what it is going to take to prepare for a great season next year.  The goal of the workouts is obviously to look like the guy to the left (Randy Couture), but it is not an easy task.  We actually do an ab exercise called "Coutures" that Randy came up with.  Anyways, we are pretty nervous to go to sleep tonight because we are afraid we won't be able to move when we wake up.  But, we must go on and work hard again tomorrow.

I'll leave you with this breaking News:  Jermaine "Dolla" Beal is set to compete in the college All Star 3 Point Shootout on Thursday night in Indy.  More details to come.

Mark Davis (shown above) is our fearless leader in the weightroom and he is the mastermind behind the "300" workout.  We talk about it all season, and when asked how to prepare for "300", Coach Davis quickly responds, "you can't."  The "300" workout is a short workout (usually about 45min- 1 hr.) that makes you push yourself to the maximum on every set.  The actors of the movie "300" trained for 8-10 weeks using this method, and Coach Davis has tweaked it to cater to basketball players.  It is painful yet fun, and we compete every day to get the best time.  It all starts tomorrow!  Read more here: 300

Hey Everyone.  We are back in Nashville now and  ready to get back to work as we start Spring weightlifting and conditioning tomorrow.  We are hungry for a great season in 2010-2011, and it starts tomorrow. I wanted to share a picture of Steve Tchiengang and our cheerleading squad. Looks like he must be doing something right.

Coming to you live from San Jose, CA on the day before our first round game tomorrow against Murray St.  More updates will come after we get our first win under our belt!

This is my first post, the first day of the making of the greatest 3-on-3 tournament ever created, and the first day of the insider look at the Vanderbilt basketball team..  Right now, the school year is coming to a close and our spring workouts are coming to a close as well.  Everybody is making strides, and we are ready to do big things next year.  Today in pick up play upstairs in the practice gym, Jeff Taylor hit me in the eye with his elbow and I went down hard... it's ok, I am going to make a full recovery.. ha.. this is not to take away from the great offseason play of freshman like Festus, Jeff, Steve and Brad.  Festus has looked like Dwight Howard this offseason... unbelievable.. Also, Lance is now back playing after his groin injury, so everybody is excited about that.  We are on our way to a grreat year next season!  Signing off.. stay classy
-Joe
